From Sickness, Financial and Personal Drought to Victory A Testimony of Faith and Restoration Jesus took me through severe sickness, financial hardship, and personal struggles to victory.
A Journey Through Sickness In 2002, after giving birth to my son, I completely lost my mind. Doctors diagnosed me with postpartum depression with psychosis. I had no memory of who I was, lost all sense of self, and did things I couldn’t comprehend. At times, I would wander aimlessly, prompting my family to search for me. I recall one particular moment when voices instructed me to cross Evans Mills Street to touch the gas station. Evans Mills is a busy street filled with cars and trucks, yet I crossed it. Miraculously, I survived. I was in and out of hospitals at least seven or eight times. I lost my mind three times. The first was after childbirth and then twice when attempting to discontinue medication. Now, I know I must stay on medication for life. But through God’s grace, I recovered. I regained my ability to write, communicate, and function normally. In an incredible turn, after losing my mind, I returned to school, earned a master’s degree from Kaplan University, and graduated with a perfect 4.0 GPA. This was nothing but the work of Jesus!
Overcoming Financial Hardship I lost everything. My home, my career, and my financial stability. No one would hire me. At one point, I even applied for a dishwasher job just to pay my water bill, but I didn’t get it. I submitted applications for both low-income and high-income jobs, yet nothing came through. I had to wait for God’s timing. There was a time when no one would give me five cents for work, and I was nearly homeless. But I must testify that despite my struggles, I never went without food nor became homeless. God always provided for me. I remember praying to God. “I do not want to pay for groceries with food stamps. I want to use my debit card like everybody else.” And He did it! The first time my food stamps were up for renewal, I was fearful, so I sent in the paperwork. They renewed it. The next time, I was stronger. I didn’t send in the paperwork. Since then, I have been paying with my debit card, and that was years ago. Then, God moved. He blessed me with a business, and I recovered everything. My home, my bank account, and my financial stability.
A Devastating Personal Blow As if financial struggles weren’t enough, Satan struck my family with another blow. My husband, whom I brought to this country on a fiancé visa granting him full rights to citizenship, decided he wanted another woman. He fathered twins with her and insisted polygamy was the only solution. He informed me that nothing, not even me, would come between him and his mistress. His mother even tried to justify his actions, telling me that I was making a big deal out of nothing. She shared that she had a good friend whose husband had a child with her one year and then with the neighbor the next. This cycle continued, and they all lived together happily. At that time, I had no money, and my life was in chaos. But God prevailed. I filed for divorce and won. God revealed that He had delayed the book for 14 years because my life was not in order. Had the book been published earlier, it would have been considered marital property. But God waited. He cleaned up everything in my life, and then He restored all things. How great is our God!
A Dream of Overflowing Blessings Last year, God gave me a dream. I saw a vendor’s basket filled with mangoes, overflowing with abundance. When I told my pastor, he said, “This is your harvest.” Later, in my spirit, I understood its meaning. There would be enough for me, my family, and even the community to eat from. There would be plenty!
Reviving My Ministry Fourteen years ago, I started working on my book Jamaica and the African Safari. I also launched my YouTube ministry focused on Heaven. But the publisher went out of business, and the book died. The YouTube channel came to a halt. I thought perhaps God did not want me in ministry. After all, no one in my family was a minister. So, I gave up. Then, a few months ago, I was contacted about reviving Jamaica and the African Safari! I restarted my YouTube ministry, and God revived my calling after 14 years. I believe this marks the beginning of the basket of mangoes. Overflowing financial and spiritual blessings. Although Jamaica and the African Safari is a fun adventure-filled book, it carries a deeper spiritual message. It transports readers into the future. When Jesus returns and love and peace reign forever. The main character, Saint Tamika, becomes a permanent Royal Princess because of Jesus. And through Him, we are all invited to be permanent Royal Princesses and Princes.
